Stewart Manor is a village in Nassau County within the northern part of the Town of Hempstead. The Stewart Manor station of the ,Long Island Rail Road serves the village and provides a thirty minute ride to New York City. The village was incorporated in 1929.
Stewart Manor is served by the Stewart Manor Fire Department which was organized in 1927 with Edward Jackson as its chief. The current chief is Chief Christopher M. Dowd. The mayor of Stewart Manor is Mayor James J. Kelly with Deputy Mayor Peter Healy and Trustee John R. Egan, Trustee Gerard S. Tangredi and Trustee Robert C. Fabio.
A huge annual event in Stewart Manor is their Halloween parade where many residents get dressed in their goblin’s best to walk the streets of Stewart Manor. Other landmarks include Dover Parkway, the clock town, Presbyterian Church, the Country Club, Salsibury Avenue, St. James Church, St. Annes Church.
Stewart Manor is served by the Elmont Memorial Library in Elmont. The library offers study rooms, homework aids, reading groups and community services. One great community service offered is their museum passes. Head on over to the Elmont Memorial Library and pick up a pass for the Museum of Natural History, Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum, Cradle of Aviation, Garvies Point Museum and Preserve, the Guggenheim Museum, Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum, ,Long Island Children’s Museum, Museum of Modern Art, Nassau County Museum of Art, Old Westbury Gardens and the Vanderbilt Museum. In order to get a pass, you must have an Elmont Library Card with no outstanding fines.
