Ossining is a town in Westchester County in New York containing the villages of Ossining and Briarcliff Manor.

Originally the Sink Sink Indians lived in the area until Frederick Philipse bought the land which became the Town of Ossining in 1685. The Frederick Philipse manor extended from Sputen Duyvil Creek to the Croton River. The State of New York confiscated the manor in 1779 during the American Revolutionary War. In 1813 the village of Sing Sing was incorporated and by 1845 when the New York State Legislature created a new town out of Sing Sing, a local Indian authority suggested it be named Ossinsing. One year later the name was simply Ossining. The town of Ossining was incorporated in 1902.

The Ossining Union Free School District serves the town of Ossining and includes the schools: Ossining High School, Anne M. Dorner Middle School, Roosevelt School, Claremont School, Brookside School and Park Early Childhood Center. The mission of the Ossining Union Free School District is to “recognize the value and importance of family-school-community partnerships in educating all students.”

The Town of Ossining is also served by the Ossining Public Library on Croton Avenue. The Ossining Public Library’s mission is “to provide easy and equal access to the broadest range of information and ideas of humanity in order to meet the educational and intellectual needs of the diverse members of our community, while enriching their social and cultural lives.” The library offers services like an online database, services, a teen zone, community links. The Teen Zone offers several events, chess games, book talk backs and encourages reading at the library to reduce your late fines. The Ossining Public Library was originally chartered in 1893 as the Sing Sing Public Library and serves the residents of the Village and Town of Ossining along with parts of Briarcliff Manor, Yorktown and New Castle.

CITY-GATES was chosen by a world wide leader in the construction management industry to provide overhead coiling doors to well known retail store chain in the South East. The slide show you are looking at is one of fifteen trailers that were needed to deliver 225 doors to various sites throughout the South Eastern United States. The customer placed an order for our Model CG300 rolling steel doors. All of the doors were constructed from 20 gage galvanized steel slats, angle iron bottom bars, angle iron guides, counter balanced torsion springs, chain hoist operated and motorized. The size of the doors ranged from 6 feet wide to 35 feet wide. Please contact our special contracts department if you have a similar requirement.
